LED conversion, energy-efficient lighting, and sustainable modernization have become essential in industry, transport, and production facilities. Many companies still rely on conventional fluorescent or discharge lamps. While these have been reliable for years, they no longer meet current requirements for light quality, digital control, and energy efficiency. Declining light output, rising maintenance costs, and limited availability of spare parts make operation increasingly uneconomical. The EU-wide ban on fluorescent lamps adds further pressure, requiring operators to upgrade their lighting systems to modern solutions. Full luminaire replacements often involve high investment costs, long downtimes, and significant installation effort.

The LED RENOKIT offers a practical solution. It provides reduced operating costs, modern light quality, and high reliability, while supporting sustainability by lowering energy consumption and reducing operational CO₂ emissions.

RENOKIT – the modular renovation kit for your lighting

With RENOKIT, NORKA offers a specially developed retrofit system that efficiently converts existing NORKA luminaires to modern LED technology in a future-proof manner. Instead of replacing the entire luminaire, the existing housing and building installation continue to be used – creating a sustainable solution that protects investments and significantly reduces installation costs.

What makes it special is that the RENOKIT can be individually adapted to the respective requirements in industrial or commercial environments. RENOKIT contains all the components necessary for quick and safe conversion – from LED reflectors and driver to installation instructions. Each component is optimally coordinated with the others, ensuring a reliable and durable lighting solution.

Retrofit Solutions for Industry and Trade

LED Lighting by NORKA in a food production hall – energy-efficient lighting with high light quality and optimal conditions for sensitive production areas.
Christian Günther

RENOKIT enables existing luminaires to be retrofitted with LED technology. The LED modules and driver are integrated directly into the existing luminaire housings, thus preserving the luminaire installation and minimizing disruption to production processes.

The solution takes thermal management into account so that LEDs continue to operate reliably even at high ambient temperatures, while also complying with applicable industrial standards for illuminance and safety. This modular and technically sophisticated approach extends maintenance cycles and reduces total cost of ownership while continuing to utilize existing infrastructure.

Save Energy with State-of-the-Art LED Technology

Bis zu 60 % Energieeinsparung durch moderne LED-Beleuchtung – effiziente Lichtlösung für Industrie- und Produktionsbereiche mit deutlich reduzierten Betriebskosten.

Converting to LED lighting enables a significant reduction in power consumption – often by up to 60% compared to conventional bulbs. LED lights provide uniform, flicker-free illumination and are available in different color temperatures, allowing them to be flexibly adapted to different requirements in industry and commerce.

Thanks to their long service life, LEDs significantly reduce maintenance costs and replacement cycles. Flexible lighting control and intelligent control systems enable demand-based use and increase efficiency.

Further advantages of LED technology:

> High switching resistance, even with frequent switching on and off.
> Environmentally friendly, as LEDs do not contain harmful substances such as mercury and reduce CO₂ emissions
> Easy integration into existing lighting systems and smart building systems.

Overall, LED conversion provides an economical, sustainable, and future-proof lighting solution that meets today's energy efficiency and sustainability requirements.

What should you consider when replacing fluorescent tubes with LEDs?

Existing Fixtures and EnvironmentFirst, it must be assessed whether the existing lighting housings are suitable for further use. This includes aspects such as the condition of the housing materials and electrical components, like connectors or cable insulation. Special environmental requirements, such as EX protection or higher IP ratings, must also be maintained during the retrofit. Emergency lighting functions should be taken into account as well. A retrofit is not always possible due to the age of the fixtures or external requirements.
Lighting RequirementsIf the normative requirements regarding illuminance, uniformity, or other lighting parameters for the area to be illuminated have changed since the original commissioning, the current requirements must be taken into account during a retrofit.
Legal AspectsConverting from conventional lighting to LED can affect the compliance of the fixture. Factors such as increased power consumption, changes in usage, or protection class can lead to the loss of CE conformity or other approvals, necessitating a reassessment of the fixture’s compliance. NORKA RENOKITs for retrofitting are tested and comply with the required CE conformity.

FAQ about RENOKIT: Frequently asked questions about LED retrofitting

Further questions on this topic are answered in our FAQ section.

1. What does the ban on fluorescent tubes mean for businesses?
Since the EU-wide ban on fluorescent tubes came into effect, many fluorescent and compact fluorescent tubes may no longer be sold. Businesses should therefore modernize their existing lighting systems. Without retrofitting, they face the threat of rising costs in the long term due to inefficient technology, limited spare parts supply, and the risk of failure.
2. How much energy does an LED conversion with RENOKIT really save?
The use of energy-efficient LED modules and modern drivers can reduce power consumption by up to 60% compared to conventional luminaires. The actual savings depend on the condition of the existing luminaire, the daily operating time, and the control components used (e.g., DALI, motion sensors, or daylight control). Sample calculation: A classic 2 × 58 W fluorescent luminaire with a conventional ballast can be replaced by a RENOKIT system with only 42 W LED power – with a significantly higher luminous efficacy of over 140 lm/W.
3. How much does RENOKIT cost compared to a new luminaire?
The total costs for a RENOKIT retrofit are typically 40–50 % lower than those of a complete new fixture, depending on the housing type and installation effort. The savings primarily relate to the procurement costs. The RENOKIT is particularly economical in buildings where the existing fixtures have high-quality, functional, and well-maintained housings – for example, aluminum housings with an IP65 rating or vandal-resistant housings. Additional advantage: by retaining the existing mechanical installation setup, planning and testing costs – such as new lighting calculations or retrofit approvals for critical applications (e.g., railway areas, explosion-protected zones) – are eliminated. Upon request, NORKA can provide a cost analysis, including a comparison between a new fixture and the RENOKIT.
4. What happens if my luminaire model is not RENOKIT-compatible?
No problem. Our development team is constantly working on kits for additional models. We also check individually whether a special solution is possible – it is often worth making an inquiry anyway.
5. How long is the delivery time for a RENOKIT?
The delivery time depends on the model and the scope of the conversion. For common luminaire types such as LONDON or DUBLIN, our kits are usually available at short notice. The exact delivery time will be agreed upon individually. Special solutions require a little more lead time – in this case, we will coordinate the details with you individually.
